Flying with AerLingus Direct from Manchester to Orlando
We recently flew the new for 2022 direct flights with AerLingus from Manchester to Orlando and compared with other companies who fly from Manchester we were pleasantly surprised.
Having recently flown with AerLingus Direct from Manchester to Orlando.
AerLingus opened up direct flights from Manchester to Orlando in early 2022. We traveled in May 2022, flying from the recently refurbished Manchester Terminal 2 and found the check-in staff and security process very quick and smooth. This is despite the Covid testing still being in place at the time.
Once onboard (Economy), we found the seats to be very spacious and this was even without purchasing any seat or legroom upgrade. The plane was clean, comfy and staff very friendly and helpful.
ONBOARD
While onboard there is plenty to entertain everyone from the onboard entertainment system which a good range of games, tv-series and movies.

The AerLingus Play app is a must, with this you can discover what is playing before you even step onboard, create your own playlist with your favourite movies, TV or music, and control the screen, playback and navigation directly from your own personal device.

Do I get headphones onboard and can I use my own?
When you arrive onboard you are given a pair of AerLingus headphones as in the photos.
If you are anything like me then you probably prefer to bring your own headphones. Personally, I prefer the noise-canceling headphones and with the free airplane headphones, I can never get the volume loud enough to hear it well enough, (probably just me!).
If you do prefer bringing your own headphones onboard you will need an airplane headphone adapter. These will cost you around £5.99 for 3 currently.

What is the food like onboard?
The food onboard was what surprised me. Not normally one for plane food I did eat everything I was given onboard from the chicken meal and white chocolate and Raspberry mousse which was delicious. The hidden gem was kids potato and veg bites which I helped them eat!, very tasty.
CHARGING DURING YOUR FLIGHT
We get asked a lot about charging while on the long flight to Orlando.
The good news is AerLingus like most aircraft nowadays have onboard charging via USB sockets, they seem to charge slow but do the job. However a little hidden gem I spotted unfortunately this was when we were leaving the flight, was a 3-pin plug low down on each aisle under the seat infront.
CHARGING SOLUTIONS
I do travel with my own powerbank which is great for charging on the move or when in the theme parks. I recommend a 2000mah which will charge most phones around 4 times which is handy when doing park rides and dinner reservations plus checking wait times on the many rides.
I recommend Anker as it’s been a reliable make for many purchases but they are a little more than other similar products.
